I started living in EcoBuilt Efficient Buildings back in 2006. Before I moved into Dennis Crook's EcoBuilt home, I had to fill the oil tank in my former home every three weeks if I wanted to have heat.
I have to admit I was skeptical and disbelieving the first time I spoke with Siti Crook and she told me the property was energy efficient. It was an old farm house probably built in the 1950's, and the old farmhouses I've been in are cold! I liked how the 3-bedroom home looked so I was willing to take a chance on her low cost heating claim.
I am so glad I took a chance. Siti was right, instead of having to fill the oil tank every three weeks I used only 1 ½ tanks of oil the entire winter. I had a lot more money to spend on other things I wanted.
When the opportunity came to move into a brand new Ecobuilt 3-bedroom home, I grabbed it. It is comfortable like the farmhouse and it has an Energy Star certifcation. I couldn't go back to living in a building that is not energy efficient, I am spoiled.
There aren't any drafts, my feet aren't cold, and in the winter my thermostat is set at 72 degrees all the time. The best part is I pay less living in an EcoBuilt Efficient Building and I am more comfortable.
I bet you can't say the same thing for your home?

"My wife was a little skeptical about having an energy audit for our home. She pointed out some of the obvious (old windows, old appliances, etc.) which we did not have the reasources to pay for at the time. Within 5 minutes, Dennis Crook pointed out a major flaw with our HVAC system! A return register vent was not hooked up in our finished upstairs loft. After a little repair, we will most likely recoup the cost of the home energy audit within a year! Thanks again.
